Tuning Info

Innovative Tuning offers engine management tuning for a wide range of EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) vehicles. We tune the full range of devices, from the simplest piggybacks like the S-AFC to standalone systems and reflash based solutions. When it comes to standalones, we specialize in AEM EMS systems and we’re factory certified on them. If AEM doesn’t have a plug and play application for your setup, we also specialize in custom wiring any fuel injected vehicle for an Autronic, AEM, etc. standalone. From snowmobiles to drag cars we’ve tuned a broad spectrum of vehicles and have the experience to help you achieve your goals.

Proper engine management tuning provides added horsepower and torque across the entire RPM range while maintaining the customer’s preferred margin of safety. We tune daily drivers, street/track cars, and all out race cars according to each customer’s guidelines.

Street and track tuning are performed using a Bosch wideband oxygen meter, which always has less than 50 hours of use on the sensor, and a high performance laptop for our logging/tuning use. Rpm reference, accelerometer, 3 bar MAP logging, and variable input logging are also available if necessary.

For those who are too far away to make the trip to our shop, we offer out of town tuning by the day and half day depending on distance. Tuning can be performed on a dyno, at the track or on the street depending on your needs. Please contact us for details.

After a few years with our 2WD dyno we realized a few things. 95% of cars that come in for tuning have sophisticated engine management systems with excellent datalogging capabilities allowing us to combine that data with our wideband air/fuel readings and produce an efficient, smooth, and reliable tune without the dyno. We also found that cars tuned on the street or at the track had superior drivability, consistency, and more accurate fueling and boost control settings due to the real world loading which even the best dynos cannot match. This drivability advantage is a big plus for customers getting their daily drivers tuned on the street and the accuracy of loading and real world conditions at the track are the reasons most big power race cars across the globe are tuned at the track and not on a dyno. Lastly we found that a large number of our customers had AWD/4WD vehicles and after tuning hundreds of those on the street each year for several years with fantastic results, we decided it was time to let the dyno go back in 2006. Since then we’ve continued a full schedule, performing about 500 tunes a year and including 10 second drag cars, touring cars, and 700+ WHP street monsters (later did pulls elsewhere to get HP numbers) which were all tuned on the street or at the track. Track only vehicles and those not safe to drive on the street can be tuned at the track or on a dyno off site at the customer’s request.
